Another week gone by....

Another precious week of summer has slipped me by! It was busy and crazy and well spent, but summer is drifting by too fast for me!

My make something Monday is not quite ready for a reveal, my Mister still has to put it together, so maybe next week!

This week I cleaned out my classroom. That was a little bittersweet! I went through my stuff at record speed, I emptied 8 drawers of files like lightening. I promised myself to not be a hoarder at school. No more! Callie was making fun of me, because all week I have been going through the whole house throwing things away and organizing and then she saw the glory that was my cabinets at school and laughed!

Bye Ahills! You were a great home for 8 years!
After cleaning my classroom I lunch with my fabulous team for last 3 years and just celebrated!

This last weekend my sister in law's sister got married and both of my children were "in the wedding". I say this because my precious ring bearer RE-fused to go down the aisle and got a little stage fright!
Minus his melt down it was a beautiful wedding and such a fun time!
This was Callie's 10th, 10th WOW! Wedding! She was so sweet and looked just beautiful with her Elsa braid!
My handsome "shy" guy!
The colors were lime green and hot pink, my fav!
My Boys!

Had to sneak a family shot in there!
The bride and groom were so cute!!
Are y'all seeing this venue??
Thank you for letting us share your special day, Cole and Aunt Becca! It was just beautiful!(P.S this was the only picture Kellen would be in. This boy, where does he get the stubbornness??)

After an exhausting Friday, we invited over the Nashville crew for a fun BBQ on Saturday. I forgot to take pictures, but lemme' tell you, it was hot and sweaty, but those kids sure had fun! And I was so impressed with my husband actually planning and doing everything for a get together. It was a nice change to not have to stress!
Sunday was Father's day and it was SO relaxing! We had breakfast with my dad, came home took naps and the kids lazed around and then we went to a family get together with Brien's side so he could visit with his dad. Father's day always seems a little more low maintenance than Mother's day for some reason!

This guy! Oh my word, do I love my daddy! As we speak, he is texting me about the dangers of allowing his granddaughter fly as an accompanied minor. He is always looking out for everyone. I have the best, easiest and funniest conversations with him. Hands down, best dad ever! I love you so VERY much daddy!

And this guy! I love everything about being a parent with him. I have loved watching him be a dad to Callie and then to Kellen and he proves that biology has nothing to do with fatherhood. He loves, jokes and plays like nothing else. I love you Mister Wood! Happy Father's day, sorry you didn't get that Traeger smoker, but I hope your nice button up shirt will make up for it, wink wink!

So, now here we are in week 4 of break and it will finally be a normal week! Callie is living it up at great grandma's house right and Kellen and I have organized all of his toys in his room and all over the house. A little boring, but productive! We shall see what other adventures we can get into!

Thrifty finds!

This weekend I had the pleasure of going to my favorite little thrifty stores. It was glorious and I got exactly what I needed! I love it when  plan comes together!

Here are my treasures!
Tie dye pink shorts, yes please! Gap: 5.99

Coral pants that actually fit?? Get in my closet! 5.99

Pink Target boyfriend tee! I decided I am kind of low on tees so this fit the bill! 2.99

Another fun and easy tee! Old Navy 1.99

White shorts have been on list forever! This pair is great and NOT see through, which is important to me! Gap 5.99

Another cute little pair of shorts that are not too short and will be great for summer errands! American Eagle 5.99

These cute little bermuda shorts from Old Navy were a steal! 2.99

Pink pants! I don't know why these caught my eye, but last week one of my girlfriends from church had these on when she was picking up her kiddos and I decided I needed some too! Gap 5.99

Target dress! I ALMOST bought this dress during the winter for our 5280 dinner, I am so glad that I didn't pay $40 'cause this one was 3.99!

Black shorts! These are super cute shorts that are little more dressy and they had the tags still on! Express 3.99

I got a bunch of stuff for the kiddos too, some polos and shorts for Kellen and a few cute tops for Callie but they are in the wash, so no pics of those! I have missed my thrifty days and felt like a rockstar for spending less than $50 bucks on all this!! Yay for thrifting!

Weekend fun!

This weekend was dream team USA. Now that VBS is over and we are not driving to Denver twice a day, there was time for fun and relaxing...
This was my life last week!
It really was so much and I will probably do it all over again next year!

So Friday we enjoyed some grilled Salmon, watched Zootopia and enjoyed a beautiful sunset!
Saturday, Brien took the kiddos to his parents in the morning to help work on their basement tiling so I had a whole blissful 24 hours to myself. All. By Myself. I missed my family a weird amount, but it was nice to have some time to indulge!
I got a Starbucks coffee that I didn't have to share, got my hair all fixed up with some highlights and spent like 2 hours thrifting without any children complaining. I got some great treasures, more about that later!

On Saturday night, My sister in law threw a great bachelorette party for her sister and it was so fun to hang out with the girls and not have to put children to sleep!
We started with some delicious supper! We had to get fueled up for our evening!

Then off to painting! My beautiful sister in law and her sister, the bride! I sure do love these ladies!

and... our finished products. I have no idea where to put this bad boy!
On Sunday it was another blissful, beautiful day! I headed to church to finish cleaning up VBS stuff and then went grocery shopping by myself and then home to clean my house, by myself. It was nice. I am not gonna' lie!

My lovely family finally made it home and we had a great family dinner with my parents, aunt and grandma. I am so thankful that they were here to partake in the chaos that is Sunday dinners! After supper it had just rained so we had to share the secret park with Brien. It doesn't get any better than that!

Today has been all about father's day and I have a super fun "Make Something Monday" going down to share next week! Happy Monday!

The Real Deal With Summer

Ahhhh, it's finally happening. The joys of summer. Morning walks, iced sweet tea, bologna sammiches, endless hours of playing outside. I could do this all year...

This week we are in the throws of good old VBS again, just one more night. We got this! Kellen decided he wanted to try it this year and it has not gone well, as whenever he sees me I have a little cling on, shadow holding my hand.

The window project is almost finished, we are still putting the house back together, but it has been hard with our evenings occupied wranging 60 children.

The first few days this week, my cousins kiddo joined us for the mornings, so we had an extra playmate, and that kept us good and busy.

I finally know my fate for next year...I will be teaching 2nd grade!!! Hurray!! It actually happened, God is so good! The school is literally 1.2 miles away from our house, day is shorter and I get to teach little people. I seriously am still getting used to the idea of not teaching kids who are bigger than me and I love it! I am going to go next week and get my old classroom cleaned out and scope out my new room. I am so jazzed to have this opportunity. I can't wait to get my new "home" set up and I can actually get all up on pinterest for elementary stuff without feeling guilty!

So we have a lot going on!
Cheesin' in our VBS shirts!

Kellen thought it was the funniest thing when Jake was drinking out of the hose! Turns out our faithful old pool had cracked during the winter. I was going to buy one at the store but it wouldn't fit in my car. I kind of miss the ol' jeep sometimes!

Story time at the library was a blast, thanks to Callie we will be carrying on our "Time to Read Tuesdays"!

Baking up some scones for aunt Jenn!

We finally got the planters filled up with beautiful flowers!

This morning we found a secret park. Callie turned us down some random path and it just appeared as if from nowhere. How did we not know about this place after all our adventures???

Finally putting together her 3rd grade school year binder! We had 2 baskets full of papers and treasures from the year, it was a hot mess and I am glad that it is now organized!

So we are off to a rip roaring start over at the Wood house and I am so thankful for summer!

Adventures in Nashville

This summer break has been a wild one already! Friday on the last day of school, I dropped off the goobers with Brien's dad and we had a whole weekend to ourselves. We literally did not know what to do. It was weird. So we did what any good parents with no children would do, we made bacon cheese burgers, watched an episode of Naked and Afraid and went to bed at reasonable hour. So. Boring.

On Saturday we ran errands. Quickly. We had like 5 stops to make and it only took like 2 hours. That's all. 2 Hours. It was glorious! After errands we headed home to pack and clean up the house. Then we had the whole afternoon to sit on the patio and relax.

Sunday morning the adventure began! My mom dropped off us at the airport and we had plenty of time to kill. Then we boarded the smallest airplane known to mankind. It was seriously the same size as the little commuter planes that get you from small towns to big cities.

Ridiculous, but we made it somehow!
Our Hotel was downtown and just a few blocks from all the fun things to do on Broadway. And the hotel smelled like cotton candy and every time you walked past the front desk they had warm chocolate chip cookies. Dangerous, I tell you!
Thanks, Double Tree, Nashville for a great stay!
That evening we grabbed some dinner at Dick's Last Resort. It is the worst dining experience ever. I am not sure why people would want to pay to be insulted and have waiters throw napkins at you, but whatever. We laughed a lot. After supper we headed to an awesome bar called The Swinging Door. We spent most of our time here, as it is right off Broadway, a little more quiet and they have AH-mazing musicians singing!
Monday, Nashville was much more quiet. We took the morning to do some tourist-y stuff and hit up the shops and The Ryman. It was awesome to learn the history of the original Grand Ol' Opry!

After wandering around town all day, Brien and I got some bad news on the home front. My uncle's health took a turn for the worse and he passed away very suddenly. I wished we had been home to love on our family. Thankfully we were with great friends who made a tough day bearable by toasting cheers and requesting songs for Uncle Chip. Now that we have been home a few days it has been great to see my family band together and take care of each other, my aunt is seriously one of the toughest ladies I know!

Tuesday, we hit up the shops and got matching tee shirts, found these really cool guitar string bracelets and presents for our kids!

Then we hit up Jason Aldean's place, Crazy Town, for some Music, food and drinks. The lead singer of the band that was playing from from Colorado so we had to see that through! Then we topped off the night at, that's right, the Swinging Door. The guy that was playing when we walked in was my favorite! Here's why...For the first time, ever in history, my husband danced with me in public.  Win.

The next morning, the gang went to the Grand Ol' Opry Museum and I stayed behind to do my interview. It went much better than the first time! But still not a solid word from HR. So that wait continues.

We headed back on Wednesday, on a real plane, I might add, and I was ready. Ready, for my own bed and to love on my sweet babies. Their little, smiling faces were waiting at the airport when we got in. It was oh, so sweet to get away for a minute, but there is no place like home!

Today has been a regroup, unpack and clean and get geared up for VBS. More on that next week! Thank God for summer break!
