Spring Break!

Well we are more than half way through spring break and it doesn't really feel very spring-y as right now it is snowing... waahhh! Despite the damper the weather has been, we have been having tons of fun (indoor fun).

Monday was spent with sweet friends from church for a play day.
Tuesday Callie wanted to go to before and after school program because they were going to build a bear, so Mr. Kellen and I had a super fun day running errands and getting some lunch together. We also squeezed in some arts and crafts time!
This was super fun!
All you need is a pan, baking soda, food coloring, vinegar and eye droppers.
Fill the pan with the baking soda and mix cups with food coloring color you have on hand. In our case it was green, pink and purple. Mix the coloring with about 1/2 cup of vinegar. Dip the eye dropper in the vinegar mixture and drip into the baking soda pan. Fizzy fun!

This was also a big hit! Gallon sized zip lock bag, fill with paint and tape that bad boy to the table. These two crafties, kept the mister busy while I worked on....

Finally putting my wine corks to good use. I have to say I am a little disappointed that 2 years of drinking wine only amounted to enough corks to fill up this small ampersand!
Literally all you need for this is a wood cut out of a shape, wine corks and a glue gun. I found my cut out at wal-mart for $1.88!

I wish that I could have made something a little bigger, I guess that means I will need to drink more wine!
On Wednesday, the weather took a turn for the worse so we decided a nice indoor field trip would be the best. Callie decided that Kellen would love the Children's Museum and she was correct! The museum has really stepped up their game with a bunch of new exhibits.  These crazies had a blast zooming from room to room and discovering all the new things to play and climb on!
I could not drag this kid away from the fire truck! I think we spent the better part of a day climbing on this!

Callie had a blast on the altitude climber. Its a four floor platform climb and she made it to the top!

The water exhibit was the bane of my day and we had to make 2 trips there. They provide some ill fitting rain coats, but do you think my children stayed dry? No, the answer is heck no, because if there is water to be splashed in my children will find it and leave soaked, two times.

They have this amazing "teaching kitchen" that has cute little snacks. I just want to remodel my own kitchen after it. Are you seeing these chandeliers??

That's a heavy basket! They have a "super market", Kellen had fun filling up his basket with veggies that he would never eat in real life!

Aaaannnnddd back to the fire truck one last times before we left.
Overall our day was a raging success, props for the overpriced kid's museum!

Easter

So I am a little late to the party with my Easter happenings, but we have been really enjoying spring break and I have not had time to sit down and work on anything for more than a few minutes!

It was an egg-stravagaza!
We had to have our annual church Easter egg hunt in the building this year, because the beautiful park was a snowy slushy mess! The kiddos had fun, but let's be real, it's just not the same.
This was as close as Kellen would get this year, there is just something about getting too close to the holiday characters!

All of these kids took about 15 minutes to hundreds of eggs, when you have limited space the hunt it's just not quite a hunt!

Kellen was all about finding all of the eggs!

These crazies cleaned up!

Later that night my wonderful family came over for supper and egg dying fun!

You can't see as well this year, but some little boy had hulk hands again from dipping them in the dye..

Kellen decided we had to leave some carrots for the Easter bunny. I am pretty sure she would have liked chocolate better, but it's the thought that counts!

The Easter bunny was sure good to these cuties!

After church we headed up north to Brien's parents place for our annual Easter lunch and as always, tons of fun was had! Another egg hunt, gobs of candy, bubbles, delicious food. It's the best!

Playing outside and thankful for the sunshine, after a week of snow!

Meanwhile back inside, Mr. Kellen was too building awesome towers to be bothered with playing!

This was best in the batch, Callie was being blinded by the sun!

Sweet cousins!
It was another great Easter in the books. So thankful for my wonderful family! So blessed by the incredible gift from my Savior! Matthew 28:6-- He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.

I am SO thankful for a snow day! Our babysitter is supposed to have surgery today, so I was already off with Kellen, but I was supposed to come for interviews for teachers for our team. I was in quite the pickle, because my principal said to just bring my 2- year old to school with me! I was freaking out, what on earth was I going to with him while this other lady taught my class?? Praise God, for freak spring blizzards!

Lava Cake

This weekend we made another yummy treat at the Wood house. This one was way out of my comfort zone... Crock pot desserts were a little scary.

I am all over making dinner, but dessert, this was a whole 'nother story!
You need...
Chocolate cake mix prepared as directed on the box
Instant chocolate pudding mix prepared as on the box
1 cup of chocolate chips
Ice cream to serve with it later

1. Spray cooking spray in your crock pot
2. Prepare the cake mix as directed--Ours called for 1/2 cup of water, 1/2 cup of oil, and 3 eggs.
3. Pour into the crockpot
4. Prepare the pudding mix. Ours needed 2 cups of mix.
5. Pour the pudding mix right in the middle.
6. Sprinkle with chocolate chips
7. Cook on high for 2.5 hours. I turned my to low the last 30  minutes once the top was set up!
From this...

To this! Who knew?!

It came out so well! The top was super yummy warm cake and the bottom was ooey, gooey goodness. Then dump on a scoop of ice cream, mmmm perfection!

Concerts, showers and general shenanigans

This weekend was another whirl wind of stuff! Well I guess it all started before that really...

St. Patrick's Day, leprechauns invaded our house again. Ol' Lucky (aka my amazing sister in law)comes by every year and leaves treats for the kiddos. They were oh-so-cute! Thursday night me mum watched the kiddos and Brien and I went for our annual Tax date. Which means dinner at Las Delicious and getting our taxes done. Every year since I have known Brien this has been a thing. It's pretty adorable, really.

Friday was concert day! Way back in the summer Callie had said she wanted to go to a Toby Mac concert. Somehow my sister-in-law was able to score great tickets for Brien, Callie and I to go with them and their bigs. It was a blast!

Callie has only been to one other concert (The Oakridge Boys, I know right?!?) so this was very different than what she was expecting! There were so many awesome bands playing. Callie loved hearing the songs we listen to on the radio in real life. The spontaneous dancing and hugging between cousins was super cute! It was a wonderful way to end a very long week!

Saturday, Brien had to work so I was on my own. It was a rough morning. After a long evening of dancing, singing and staying up waaaaayyyy past even my bed time, Callie had to be at the high school for this GT club she is a part of at 7:30. Who does that to parents on a Saturday??!! So we spent the morning running errands, dropping off, picking up etc. Then after no nap, we went my sister in law's sister's wedding shower. With both children in tow we trooped over the party and had a wonderful time!

Cuz' you have to make a wedding dress out of toilet paper...

Sunday we accidentally slept in way past bible class and the kids were wiped out after a crazy week so we just lazed around the house, It was glorious. We got Easter outfits taken care of for next weekend and enjoyed a delightful tea party with some Fuller House and a great family dinner.

Fancy, yes?!

Whew! What a weekend! Is it Friday yet??!!
