What I Wore Wednesday

Well only 15 more days of school and I am so excited for our jammed packed summer. I just wish it would feel more summer-y or at least spring-y... I would take that!
Picking out clothes for the week has been challenging to say the least. Today was the first day that out kiddos have been out for a long stretch and boy did they need it!
I wore this to school and out with my church ladies for a much needed dinner last week. We closed down Red Robin on Monday night. It was so fun to get out and be with other mama's! My face hurt from laughing and smiling and I always leave with hundreds of new crazy things to watch, read, listen to, try, etc... Love those girls!

Weekend recap

This weekend was nice! It was GREAT to not have a project to work on... I know that will be short lived as we have many hours of hard labor in the back yard once the weather warms up for good! Callie spent the night at Brien's parents this weekend for princess class and some time with the grandparents!

So MANY princesses!
We had a lovely night in on Friday ordered chinese food and watched what could be the worst movie ever... Have y'all seen Wolf Of Wallstreet?! I felt like I needed to take a shower after I watched it!!!

Saturday Brien had to work, so it was just me and the baby man all morning! We went shopping and played outside...It was lovely!
Lovin' his cozy coupe and actually driving it outside!
The rest of Saturday was uneventful, cleaning, laundry and dinner with the parents!
Sunday was SO rainy! I thought we would wash away on the highway to church. Even though the weather was terrible, I finally got some VBS stuff done! Hurray! I think it is going to be pretty super cool this year. The theme is "Everest" Conquering Challenges with God's Might Power. I am so excited to get started and so grateful for all the help from my church peeps!

After church I had to meet Brien's mom to pick up Callie and brave the horrible rain and traffic again. But I got there super early and was able to do some shopping!
                                           Women's Ona Scrunch Ballet Flat
I picked up these little flats at Target for $15... They are super cute!

I also got some amazing new 4in1 powder that I am SUPER excited about. I have been a bare minerals girl for years, but the girl at Ulta talked me into trying PUR Minerals and it is fantastical!!

After my mini shopping spree and picking Callie up, we trudged home in the rain to make dinner. I tried out a new recipe. It was another super trashy dish " Dorito Casserole"  (I followed the recipe minus the rotel)I totally forgot to take pictures, but it was pretty tasty!

My sister in law made THE prettiest dessert I have ever eaten! It was delicious! Its called a Black forest Trifle and it did not disappoint!

 Yummy!

5 years...

I have been wanting to write about this for a while, but I can never decide exactly what I want to say or how I want to say it. Last Sunday marked 5 years since my cousin, Tyler, took his life. Last night as I was laying in bed, I was praying for God to give me words... Aaannndddd, Nothing.

My sweet and wonderful cousin with Callie when she was about
6 weeks old. This SO captures him. Tyler was the most gentle, loving kid!

Then today I was driving Callie to girl scouts and my favorite radio people were talking and it came to me... They said imagine the biggest thing that you could think of. Hmm?? A sky scraper? The girl on the radio show said the universe. I guess it doesn't really get much bigger than the universe, does it?  But we can still wrap our heads around the size of the universe; that is something that we can understand.

Well, in the bible it says in Psalm 139:5-6  " You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;it is high; I cannot attain it."
Let that sink in for a minute... God's love for us is so big and so great that our little earthly brains cannot even understand it. We have nothing on earth to compare to it!  We are just not meant to understand, here on earth how God works and why, it is "too wonderful for me, it is too high, I cannot attain it!"  Wow! There is no problem too big, no sorrow to overwhelming for God.

These boys...

When I got home I started digging  a little bit more and it keeps popping up all over...
Romans 11:33 "O how deep are God's riches, and wisdom, and knowledge! How unfathomable are his decisions and unexplainable are his ways!"

I will never know exactly what happened, who Tyler would be today, why didn't he tell someone and that hurts and frankly, it sucks. Tyler's time was much too short and SO many people loved him and my family will never really get the answers to any of these questions. For so long I have been really frustrated and sad by this but today, I had such a peace about it because.. "38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a]neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
Did you see that? what God did?? Not even DEATH can separate us from God!

So from now on, no wondering, no questioning. Just peace. It's still hard, but God is all over this. Tyler, you are loved, you are missed and you are watching over us.

Bathroom remodel done!

It has been a journey, but we have a fully working, totally done, amazing bathroom!! I am so glad it's over. It doesn't usually take this long for us to finish a project, but we have had a lot going and let's be real-- renovations with a 1 year old, are just not ideal!
So we got from here...

To here... (It's really hard to take picture in a tiny bathroom, just FYI)

I love how it came out, and I love that I don't have to share it with little people, and it's pretty!
I am so excited to take a bath in my extra deep, slope-y tub and RELAX! Cheers to finishing projects! Up next the mud pit, yucky rock and decrepit deck out back!

What I wore Wednesday!

Y'all, this week has been so long already! I am not even teaching and I am exhausted...Kellen has some sort of icky sickness and has a terrible fever. Upside, he wants to cuddle all the day long. Down side, he won't sleep at night. So 2 hours of sleep it is!
With my raincoat on a chilly day! Thursdays are supposed to college gear days this month, but I just don't have enough tees to last me through the month! Plus... I was asked to attend a district principal meeting and hear Yemi Stembridge speak. It was very cool and affirming to know that the "lab" classes are doing the same things we are!
Raincoat: Old Navy

Behind the raincoat!

Jeans: Old Navy
Flats: Target

This weekend was pretty jazzy! The weather was perfect, everyone was healthy, for a hot minute. It was simpler times... We finished the bathroom, FINALLY! No more dust, no more tools in my bedroom. All I need to do is paint a final coat on the door and put on the handle and we are DONE. Pics to come later this week...
I also attended a Pampered chef party hosted by my lovely sister in law put on by her lovely sister. We had lots of fun and I am so excited about my new cooking stone!!
Don't wash these!  Ladies warn your husbands BEFORE they decide to be helpful and load the dishwasher!

I wore this to church and shopping with my mom. My Parents are nearing the end of a huge kitchen remodel and they needed a "professionals" opinion on some finishes!

High five for Friday favorites!

This week has been so looonnnggg! On Wednesday I made it all the way through the day thinking it was Thursday. I was devastated when I got home and found that it was still Wednesday. Yuck!
Some things that were great this week are...

                                                                            Magic sizing...
This is a life saver! My LEAST favorite chore is laundry. I HATE it! I was fine when it was just me, even just me and Callie, but throw two more people in and it has become unmanageable. I don't even mind the sorting and washing. It's the folding and putting away that get me, Every. Week!! Ugghhh.Don't even get me started on ironing. I don't, I just can't bring myself to do it. So I have a little short cut. Magic sizing. It's like an iron in a can. It is literally spray starch. I think you are supposed to use it before you iron, but I use it as an iron. You know those tops or dresses that have ruffles or details, once you wash and dry these, they just never look the same. So I have found that if I spray the sizing on and smooth it out, let it dry and those ruffles and details look like new again!
Here it is in real life on Callie's dress!

                                                       Burts Bees pomegranate chapstick.
I found this little tube of fun in my chapstick stash unopened! It is great! It has a little mint tingle to it and a really light red-ish tint and it smells amazing! Get ya some!

Sally Hansen quick dry top coat
One of my sweet girls friends from church brought me a bottle of this. It is the best stuff ever! You can paint like 3 coats of polish and then top off some Sally and hop in bed or play in the sandbox, after 2 minutes. No lie. I never paint my nails, ever. They always chip and look terrible after like 2 days. Not anymore. I can paint them and they last at least a week without touch ups. Life changing!

My latest Netflix watch... Since Brien has been sick he has been going to bed at like 8, I get the TV all to myself. This show keeps popping up on my recommended shows, so I decided to watch it one night. I am oh, so, happy I did. It is HI-larious! Way to go Mole Women!

Pesto Pizza

We have pizza night almost every Friday and I think we have tried just about every combination out there! When I stumbled across this recipe a few weeks ago, we decided to give it a try. I personally get sick of red sauce, so this was a nice change and everyone thought it was pretty tasty!

You need:
Pizza crust (I used a pre-made Bobali, you could make your own from scratch, pre-made dough, anything really!)
Pesto (I used pre-made from the deli at the store, again you could make your own from scratch, but let's face it, that's not happenin' here)
2 cups of Italian shredded cheese blend
Pre-cooked chicken (our store sells already shredded up rotisserie chicken and it makes it so easy to throw in any recipe!)

1. Pre-heat the over to 400.
2. Prepare crust if necessary, mine required no work other than unwrapping it!

3. Spread a few heaping spoonfuls of the pesto onto the crust. I went a little lighter since I didn't know how we would like this!

4. Top with the cheese

5. Top with chicken and any other toppings you might want. Next time I think we might try bacon with this as well, yum!

6. Bake about 15 minutes until cheese is golden brown.

This was delicious and super easy, but I forgot to take an after picture.  Mine was not quite as pretty as the pinterest picture, but it was yummy! We approve!

What I wore Wednesday

This week was a mess with all of the sickness and random days off, so I have mostly been wearing more t-shirts, jeans and flats or workout clothes!(even though I have NOT been working out)
Church one Sunday. We got a late start and ended up dropping off the kiddos at their bible class, then because our class had already been in session for 25 minutes, we didn't want to interrupt. So we had a little coffee date at Starbucks and then came back when bible class was over. The ladies in the nursery said Kellen had a very hard time calming down so they came to look for us and we were no where to be found. Busted! I felt SO  bad!! One of my sweet girl friends reassured me, though, that her and her husband had a better marriage and they all owed it to playing hookey during bible class and having a mini-date.

Time with my peanut!

Last Tuesday was one of those magical days when everything just seems to fall into place and for the most part ends up perfect.

We started off pretty early and it was a little chilly in the house when we woke up, so the princess requested a soak in the tub to warm up. She stayed in there until she was a prune. When she got out we decided it was DIY pedicure time.

While our toes dried we sipped on some coffee.

After we were sufficiently caffeinated, we headed to take care of some errands.

Callie had requested to use her OWN money to but some things for Kellen's Easter basket. It was seriously the cutest thing ever. She got him some crayons, bubbles and an elephant figurine.  Also, whilst at Target I found new COGNAC heels! I was SO excited. Y'all, I have been looking for most of last winter and all this fall/winter, searching high and low on every website I could think of. I even had some $100 ones in my cart on Amazon for a few days. But, Target pulled through, just like they always do! And they were on sale 20% off for Easter!

                                                                 Women‘s Lainee D‘Orsay Pumps

After our shopping trip, Callie had requested to go to Panera Bread for lunch. We had a lovely time sitting on the patio and had a great conversation. I love this smart, sweet girl so incredibly much!

On the way home from lunch we stopped off at the library and picked out some new books, then headed home to do some baking!

Callie chose pink and blue cupcakes with pink frosting. Wait for it... She did everything!

The only part I was needed for was putting the cupcake pans into the oven. How great is that? We tried that pinterest trick, have yall seen this??
Apparently turning your oven down from 350 to 325 right after putting the cupcakes in results in a beautifully-risen cupcake!... I'm gonna have to try this out
I have to say, this really does work!!

While they were baking we made an epic fort with all 8 dining room chairs and all 4 kitchen chairs and like 27 blankets and pillows. It was cozy and pretty amazing. We laid around in our fort and read our new library books.

After I couldn't take laying on the floor anymore, we frosted our cupcakes and headed outside to play.

Then as the afternoon quickly drifted away we made supper and our list of fun summer ideas.
It was nothing over the top or super elaborate, just fun time spent loving on my sweet little peanut. I know some day (when she is teenager and hates me) I will look back on these days, so for now I just want to soak them up and enjoy time while she still thinks I am the greatest mom ever.

Easter

Easter this year was pretty marvelous for the most part. I say "pretty" because we have all been kind of under the weather and taken turns being sick and our routine is all out of whack, so things were a little weird...

But the festivities were just great and we had such a wonderful time with our families and worshipping Jesus! On Saturday we had our annual church Easter egg hunt.

Callie was ready to go but Kellen was not sure sure about this whole giant bunny thing...

These boys... I love 'em!

Kellen was that awkward kid that didn't want to be in the picture so he just stood there and there were so many parents trying to take pictures that I couldn't get to him, so he bombed a lotta pictures I'm sure!

Now we got the hang of it!

After the baskets were full, it was over to the park to play!

Callie and her Bestie, they had a blast!

The swings are still the best thing ever!
After the hunt, we went truck "shopping". Translation-- an entire day of truck "buying", but hey, now Brien has a real grown up vehicle!
That evening after the truck buying ordeal we headed home where everyone was waiting, so we could dye eggs! Last year the littlest wood just sat and took it all in. This year he was a full out participant! Thankfully grandma and great grandma don't mind getting messy!

Yikes! He for sure had green hands the next day at church, oh well!

Easter morning, we had a photo sesh at grandma's before and dropped off the annual 7 layer salad and headed for church.
As for church, I am sure the sermon was amazing but I was too busy wrestling Kellen to hear much of it, maybe next year? We sang "He Arose" one of my favorite songs, Easter or not. I am so incredibly thankful and blessed that I have a Jesus who died so I could be with God forever!
One of my sweet friends posted this on her facebook and I loved it!
After Church we headed up to flatville for our annual Easter Bash. It was so fun and my grandma joined us this year. Yay!

More great family pics! They came out so good this year! Hurray! We had a rockin' good time, great food, family beautiful weather, what more could we ask for?!
