Bubble Art!

On Monday, we had off from school for MLK and it was so snowy and cold, so that worked out well! It was pretty glorious. I finished a whole book, cleaned the kitchen and we did crafts all in out PJs. Not too shabby, I think.

My sister in law posted this awhile idea awhile back and we finally had some time to sit down and do it! This ones for you Jenny!
                                         

Cute little bubble art!

For this super easy craft you need:

Dish soap

Cups or bowls

Paint

Straws

All that's missing is cardstock!

First squirt the paint in the cup. Next add a squirt of dish soap. Last fill the cup with water. 

Not a lot of measuring happened with this we just poured it in adjusted as necessary. We ended up adding in a lot more pain especially with the lighter coral and turquoise color and titch more dish soap. When the mixture was too watery the bubbles were too small to make an impression on the paper.

Next give it a stir with the straw. Then start blowing bubbles!

We realized our cups were too small to get those oh, so, bubbly bubbles. So we poured our paint mixture into larger bowls and that seemed to do the trick!

Have your paper ready while you are blowing the bubbles and then once they get big and fluffy, press the paper down over the top of the bowl. That's it!

They came out SO super cute! A side note--Dark colors worked much better as they showed up. Another side note--DO NOT suck up with the straw, gross.

Clean up was also crazy easy as the mixture was mostly soap anyway!

Light colors came out pretty, but were more subtle than the navy blue!

I am not sure what we are going to do with them yet. Callie originally wanted to frame them and put them in her room, but her walls are filling up super fast!

Easy Arrows

You gotta love a super simple craft. I have had this one sitting around for a few weeks with no time to work on it! 

                                                       

I found this adorableness on Etsy and thought, I could try that! Then one day on my favorite little boutique site, similar unfinished arrows showed up.

I have been looking for a while for something to fill up the skinny wall on the way out the back door, but could never settle on anything. So when these super cute arrows showed up for $6 for a 3 pack, I didn't hesitate to throw throw those in my online shopping cart!

I ended up having to stay home with my sick Kellen on Monday and I decided it be a fun and quick project and it  totally was!

You need: unfinished wooden arrows, paint or stain, and a paint brush. The bare basic for this one!

Slap some paint on them and let them dry...

Then I just had my mister hang them with finishing nails.

They came out so cute and I love them! Kellen walked in this afternoon and said, "Why do you just keep making everything pretty, mom?" Because, it's what I do son, thanks!

Make something Monday: Masking Tape canvases!

This make something Monday is actually from last Monday! I have to do a workshop for school all week. I got to meet my team today and they are SO great! I am super jazzed to work with them this year! 

While, I am not super thrilled about spending one of the last precious weeks of summer away from my kiddos, at least it was a fun and productive day!

Also, I got Callie registered at my school! I am so excited that she will be going with me next year to my new school and we can have the same schedule and calendar. It is going to be great!

So last week, we tried a new craft that I have been wanting to try forever! The colors didn't come out quite as I had planned, but the kids loved it and now I just need a place to put it!

You need:

Canvases, we had some left over from a my photo canvas project last winter

Making or painters tape

paint

brushes

Super easy. Tape off the canvas in a design that you like. I let Callie go to town on this part!

Then I let the kids paint. Each section we tried to paint a different color!

This was a struggle for my guy, who is used to finger painting, but he did GREAT!

After the paint has dried take off the tape and they are ready to display!

I wanted to use grey, yellow and navy, but the navy was not quite so navy. But it still came out so cute and they were SO proud of their art!

Weekend fun!

This weekend was dream team USA. Now that VBS is over and we are not driving to Denver twice a day, there was time for fun and relaxing...

This was my life last week!

It really was so much and I will probably do it all over again next year!

So Friday we enjoyed some grilled Salmon, watched Zootopia and enjoyed a beautiful sunset!

Saturday, Brien took the kiddos to his parents in the morning to help work on their basement tiling so I had a whole blissful 24 hours to myself. All. By Myself. I missed my family a weird amount, but it was nice to have some time to indulge!

I got a Starbucks coffee that I didn't have to share, got my hair all fixed up with some highlights and spent like 2 hours thrifting without any children complaining. I got some great treasures, more about that later!

On Saturday night, My sister in law threw a great bachelorette party for her sister and it was so fun to hang out with the girls and not have to put children to sleep!

We started with some delicious supper! We had to get fueled up for our evening!

Then off to painting! My beautiful sister in law and her sister, the bride! I sure do love these ladies!

and... our finished products. I have no idea where to put this bad boy!

On Sunday it was another blissful, beautiful day! I headed to church to finish cleaning up VBS stuff and then went grocery shopping by myself and then home to clean my house, by myself. It was nice. I am not gonna' lie!

My lovely family finally made it home and we had a great family dinner with my parents, aunt and grandma. I am so thankful that they were here to partake in the chaos that is Sunday dinners! After supper it had just rained so we had to share the secret park with Brien. It doesn't get any better than that! 

Today has been all about father's day and I have a super fun "Make Something Monday" going down to share next week! Happy Monday!

Spring Break!

Well we are more than half way through spring break and it doesn't really feel very spring-y as right now it is snowing... waahhh! Despite the damper the weather has been, we have been having tons of fun (indoor fun).

Monday was spent with sweet friends from church for a play day.
Tuesday Callie wanted to go to before and after school program because they were going to build a bear, so Mr. Kellen and I had a super fun day running errands and getting some lunch together. We also squeezed in some arts and crafts time!

This was super fun!

All you need is a pan, baking soda, food coloring, vinegar and eye droppers.

Fill the pan with the baking soda and mix cups with food coloring color you have on hand. In our case it was green, pink and purple. Mix the coloring with about 1/2 cup of vinegar. Dip the eye dropper in the vinegar mixture and drip into the baking soda pan. Fizzy fun!

This was also a big hit! Gallon sized zip lock bag, fill with paint and tape that bad boy to the table. These two crafties, kept the mister busy while I worked on....

Finally putting my wine corks to good use. I have to say I am a little disappointed that 2 years of drinking wine only amounted to enough corks to fill up this small ampersand!

Literally all you need for this is a wood cut out of a shape, wine corks and a glue gun. I found my cut out at wal-mart for $1.88!

I wish that I could have made something a little bigger, I guess that means I will need to drink more wine!

On Wednesday, the weather took a turn for the worse so we decided a nice indoor field trip would be the best. Callie decided that Kellen would love the Children's Museum and she was correct! The museum has really stepped up their game with a bunch of new exhibits.  These crazies had a blast zooming from room to room and discovering all the new things to play and climb on!

I could not drag this kid away from the fire truck! I think we spent the better part of a day climbing on this!

Callie had a blast on the altitude climber. Its a four floor platform climb and she made it to the top!

The water exhibit was the bane of my day and we had to make 2 trips there. They provide some ill fitting rain coats, but do you think my children stayed dry? No, the answer is heck no, because if there is water to be splashed in my children will find it and leave soaked, two times.

They have this amazing "teaching kitchen" that has cute little snacks. I just want to remodel my own kitchen after it. Are you seeing these chandeliers??

That's a heavy basket! They have a "super market", Kellen had fun filling up his basket with veggies that he would never eat in real life!

Aaaannnnddd back to the fire truck one last times before we left. 

Overall our day was a raging success, props for the overpriced kid's museum!

Embroidery Hoop Orbs

Last week, I got my craft on... That has not happened for awhile. I am kind of running out of ideas as my house is mostly the way I want it, this is quite the dilemma! I might have to do some redecorating just to have something to fill my summer with!

So a few weeks ago I saw this pin...
                                              
And I totally stole this idea! I needed something to fill up a little space on my side board in the dining room. I have a lot of wall art so I needed something that could just be on the surface and I don't like a lot of clutter and things out (I am a pretty sad house keeper and the less things to dust, the better!) But it was looking pretty bare, so voila! Embroidery hoop orbs!

This was a little tricky to figure out at first because the tutorial is a not super specific and my hoops didn't tighten like the pin said they would, so I improvised. I am good at that!

You need...
 Embroidery hoops (I found a 2 pack at Target for like $5 and I got 2 sets)
Stain--I already had some left over from my dresser project this summer
Hot glue

Step 1: Separate out all of the circles.

Like so..I ended up with 8 total circles. 4 large and 4 small.

Step 2: Stain them! I just rubbed on the stain using an old rag and left them to dry totally in the garage! The next weekend after they were dry I wiped them down with a paper towel, to make sure there was no excess stain

Step 3: Fit the circles back together in the orb shape. Make sure that the intersecting lines are all even or it will be a hot mess!

Step 4: Secure with hot glue where the circles intersect and let it dry!

Done! How cute are those?? Get in my dining room you pretty little orbs!

If you give a girl some spray paint....

...She's gonna paint some random stuff! I have been noticing on Pinterest this fad of painting random things gold or a high gloss white and I decided to give it try on one crafty afternoon last week!

I had bought these pears at the $ Tree and I was going to try to crystallize them, but that seemed messy, so spray paint it was!

I had purchase some gold spray paint last summer and now I could finally put it to good use!

Voila! Cute and random decor for my kitchen and I love the way they turned out!
What will I spray paint next?!

Dollar store Valentines day garland

I have a quick and easy one for ya today!
This week I just happened to be out running errands and I saw a bag of red, pink and white pom poms and I randomly grabbed it.
I am so glad I did because later that day I saw this...

I had pulled out the Valentines day decor and the mantel looked a little naked, SO crafty time ensued. 

All you need is:

a bag of pom poms

thread 

a needle

This literally took me 10 minutes. I just threaded the needle and starting pulling the pom poms through and onto the thread.

I measured out about how long our mantle is and added a few inches so it would hang down. 

Then I tied it to the mantle and spread out the pom poms a little more evenly and Voila! New Valentines decor for $1!

So cute and so ridiculously easy!!

3 days weekends

Three day weekends are just magical. I feel like if we had more three days weekends, we would be more balanced, productive and overall happier people, who is with me??

So this weekend was awesome!
Brien finished demo-ing the basement! Hurray. It's a hot mess right now, but we have all of the old walls down. Next step get rid of the debris from the old framing and drywall, pull up the old carpet, make a million Goodwill runs and get rid of a bunch of stuff. Then we can re-frame the walls and rough in the plumbing. I am liking this project, mostly because I can shut a door and not have to look at the mess! Progress is a little bit slow, but I am SO excited to get going on this shenanigans!

So...It's a little hard to see the vision right now....

So. Much. Crap.

On Saturday we had a BLAST with Brien's brothers and my sister in law. We dropped off the kiddos and headed north for a brewery tour.  I had NO idea Colorado had so many breweries. My sweet sister in law planned everything and we spent the whole day hanging out and laughing so hard my tummy muscles were sore the next day!

At 300 Suns, a tiny  brewery in Longmont, one of our many fun stops!

These brothers always keep life interesting!

I had to get a picture of this sign! One of the breweries was behind this tiny little furniture rehab place. I might have to revisit just to check out the furniture!

Sunday we picked up the kids and headed home to watch the Broncos killin' the Steelers. Okay, so they barely won, but a W is W!

This lovely Monday we have been working on crafts and just hanging out at home. I have adored these cold days off at home!

I am working on some signs for my mom's kitchen...

I can't wait to get the lettering on these! They are going to be SO cute in their new kitchen!

Little miss spent the day making "Zip lines" out of her para-cording bracelets for her stuffed animals. So my house looked like an obstacle course for most of the day, but hey, kids were having fun!
