Modge podge and piece of wood

When we moved into our house it was pretty tragic looking. After years of blood, sweat and tears it is finally starting to come together and look like we want it. One of the first things that we fixed up was the family room. Thanks to my amazing husband it looked marvelous, but still a little empty.

Enter my brilliant idea...

Brien made these cool little niche shelves for me to display pictures but I had no idea what I wanted. I saw these super cool frames on pinterest and at Hobby Lobby but I was just unwilling to pay the price tag, so I made my own!

Here were the ones that I saw...

I love how they turned out and they were super easy to make.
You need:
wood plaques. I got mine from Hobby Lobby. They were like 4.99 and I waited until they were on sale for 30% off.
Acrylic paint
Pictures
 Matte Modge Podge
foam brushes
pictures (I used large plaques and 5x7 pics)

1. First I painted the wood. I picked bright colors because at the time my room was kind of dull.

2 .After the wood was dry I placed my pictures and then used the foam brush to goop on the modge podge to adhere the picture.

3. I really made sure to seal the edges of the picture really well.

After they were dry, I set them out to display!

I did this project about a year ago and the pictures are starting to wrinkle a little, but I will slather on another layer of modge podge this summer to re-seal them in!

olive and tangerine

Nope, not the food, clothes. I am loving the combination of olive and tangerine.
I am not loving this week, it has been tough, school is rough, home is rough. I just can't seem to get it together. I was feeling really attacked yesterday. I had to pray. A lot.
Callie has been feeling a little sick, Kellen is cutting his sweet little bottom teeth and decided last night that he was not a fan of sleeping. But I know God has got this. Even my silly little problems, I just need to draw close to him...

Lace and stripes

This weekend...refreshing! We did, not a lot, Hurray! I am excited because I know that the next weeks are going to a whirlwind of easter, spring and end of the school year stuff. Friday night we had some of Brien's California family come over for supper. Saturday, we slept in, went shopping, cleaned a little. Kellen and I went thrifting and then we had to get some presents for some birthdays, wedding and showers coming up.
Sunday, we had church and then my mom and I went went shopping and then Sunday family dinner.

This week should be a good one...One week closer to the end of the school year!

This outfit is one of my thirft store creations! I love the combination!

another day in life of the woods...

This morning we woke up to like 5 inches of slushy wet snow, barf...
My sweet friend posted this on facebook and it pretty much summed up how I feel about the whole situation

So beside that, the beast that we live with ate an entire tube on neosporin that we left in the basket on the stairs, he also feasted on some of Kellen's socks and a pacifier. It was not a pleasure to clean up. Thanks Jake.

On another note, I tried to take picture on our fancy camera and I think I am partial to my good old cell phone in the mirror shots. Brien got me an SLR camera for mother's day last year and I feel so bad that I never use it. But it is clunker and it doesn't fit well on the tripod, so here is my attempt at using it.

eh...

Maybe I will keep experimenting.
I figured out how to back up my files on the computer, Mission Accomplished yay!

I attempted to work on my re- licensing. I worked on it off and on all day. I was thinking "Brilliant! Progress." However, when I hit save again it said that I was only 52% finished. Why!? I will try again tomorrow.

I like these pants, but I dislike being a grown up...

I bought these pants for che-eap for our trip to California and since I have worn them probably 10 times. They are cute and comfy... and comfort occasionally matters to me! I downloaded a picture collage app on my phone and I have been experimenting with it. It is called insta-collage and it is super easy to use (even for me!) You just put in the pics and type in the text and it does the rest. Love it!

Here are two of the ways that I have worn my amazing new pants in the past week, once to school and to church on Sunday.

Things that make me uncomfortable have to do with being a grown up. This week has been challenging.

1. I got a new bank card in the mail a few weeks ago and then I left it at home. Well, it expired on Monday and I totally forgot and then I tried to buy coffee before my meeting this morning and guess what? Declined! I just couldn't figure out why. The lady at the coffee place politely pointed out that my card was expired, I am pretty sure she thought I was a moron.

2. I have to re-new my teaching license this week. It is so much work and everything is electronic and very complicated and official. I spent an hour after school today downloading and imputing data and then it said I was on step 5 of 27, 18% complete. My brain hurt, I saved everything and shut off my computer. I will deal with this later.

3. Our school is updating our operating system and we have to back up everything on our computers or it will be wiped from existence next Tuesday. My flash drive wouldn't work. I gave up. I will deal with this later.

Mustard and stripes

Even though the winter is winding down, I still keep bustin' out this cardigan. I love it! I hope I don't wear holes in it.
Another crazy day in middle school, the end of the year is rough. I am ready to pass these precious angels onto 8th grade!

Spring-y sunshine yellow, but still a sweater

It's starting to get warmer, but super windy which makes it COLD. So we are still rockin sweaters in the CO.
This week has been good so far. My co-teacher came back from her maternity leave. The kids and I were so excited to have her help again. The kids have been a little wild. It's a good thing that they are working on literature circles/book clubs for the rest of the year!
