Make something Monday: Glitter Slime

This week we have been so slow, I have just been soaking up the time we have left. I met with my amazing teacher friend for pancakes, holy moly! They were amazing! I met with my new student teacher for ice cream, yum! We had Brien's dad's birthday bash and ate our selves silly. All we have done this week is pig out! Yikes, back on track tomorrow. Now for something non-food related...

Last week for make something Monday, Callie wanted to make galaxy slime. We ended up calling it glitter slime, because this really had nothing to do with the galaxy.

We found the recipe here. It was pretty easy to make, we very carefully followed her edited instructions and one batch was amazing and the other was a little bit of a hot mess.

Here goes, you need:
Sta-flo liquid starch (We found a huge jug at Wal-mart, in the laundry aisle, bottom shelf for like $4)
Elmer's school glue (We used one bottle of regular sized glue, I would recommend getting several if you want to make a  bunch)
Food coloring
Glitter

1. Divide up the glue in bowls, we did half and half. I wished we had gotten more!
2. Add in the food coloring and stir. Then add in the glitter and stir.

3. Next, very gradually add in the liquid starch. It calls for 1/2 to 3/4 of a cup, we used way less than that and stir until it all of the starch is absorbed and the slime gets doughy.
The purple came out perfectly!!
The blue, however...
We added too much starch to fast and it did not absorb into the glue. So I dabbed it with a paper towel to suck up some of the starch and it ended up a little better.

4. Then we mixed the colors together and played!

5. Store in a plastic container and the fun can last as long as it doesn't dry up!
This killed a whole super hot afternoon and clean up was a breeze, it was a hit!
